Read It Again- Thankful!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I just wanted to say how thankful I am for my mom. 16 years ago, we started Read It Again together in my family's basement. I was fresh out of college, with an art degree. All I knew was how to talk to people and what books I liked to read. My mother, Della, actually knew how to run a business. Read It Again is my mom's 4th retail store. Read It Again wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Della McNamara.
This week is very important to Read It Again, because this is the week we were founded. In the past 16 years, I've had a family, and my mother is has become a grandmother. We've watched the children who shopped in our store grow up and have babies of their own. Read It Again is no longer this little family owned bookstore, we have become a part of the community. We have become a weekly stop for more than one customer, like getting gas or going to the grocery store. We are a meeting place, a destination and a place to take family when they're visiting from out of town- and we are so thankful for that.
We are so thankful for our customers. We have the best customers. Our customers are well read, and smart and they love discussing books. Its a joy to go to work every day because of the people we get to meet, and the friends we get to talk to.
Lastly, I'm thankful for my staff new and old. I have watched many of you grow up in my stacks, and I am so proud of every one of you. Diane and Linda have been with us since almost the beginning. They have been with us through thick and thin and I am so unbelievably thankful to call both of you my friends. Without their support, we would not have made it to our 16th birthday. Anne and Teri, getting to know you this year has been an absolute joy. Hiring you has been the best decision I have made in years. You have brought new energy and life to our store. Thank you.
So to wrap up this wrap up- I am very thankful this Thanksgiving. I am very thankful for my mom, I am very thankful for all of you and I am very thankful for my bookstore.
Happy Sweet 16 from Read It Again.
